Las Lugosi's Dracula is the culmination of 500 years of historical vampiric folklore as told by the people of Transylvania. It is an interwoven tale of darkness and struggle, between the people who inhabit this mysterious corner of the world, and the dark lords who have sought to rule over them for 500 years. The three novels are a cross between the epic story telling of the Lord of the Rings and the gruesome and grim reality of Vampire lore. Center stage is Vlad Dracula - a reincarnated evilness of the spirit of the devil. Born as a man, through his actions, he transforms into the Prince of Darkness, driven mad by blood lust and the ever increasing desire to inflict pain for his own pleasure. Those who struggle to contain him and eradicate him are facing an ever losing battle, as Dracula infects more and more people with his darkness and disease overtakes the minds of those who lost their fight against him, turning them into his soldiers to spread his evil.

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF Las Lugosi's Dracula***
When Emily and
Lizzy attended the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, they met Vasile and Nico, who were
from Transylvania. Finding these new friends to be charming, Emily and Lizzy
agree to extend their vacation and go with Vasile and Nico to Transylvania for
a weeklong adventure. But the danger they find there will change them forever.
This plot was
an interesting twist on the Dracula legacy. I enjoyed the metaphor at the
beginning about the reality of life in Dracula’s Transylvania. The story oozed
evil, and made for a frightening thought of imagining it invading my own
country. As the main character kept the
suspense continually going, I was emotionally drained by the end of the book.
It didn’t have the happy ending that I wanted, but it also didn’t have the
twist that I feared it would. It was very interesting how American politics of
that time was woven into the story.
